Module Description
Legislation In this lesson we discuss the relevant regulations surrounding manual handling in the workplace. Topics covered include the key requirements of the regulations, the employers duty of care to the employee, and the employees duties under the regulations.
The Musculoskeletal System In this lesson we will discuss how the back works, how it can get injured and how to prevent these injuries. At the end of this lesson learners should be able to state the function , composition and characteristics of the main components of the spinal column and explain the relevance of these characteristics to manual handling.
Ergonomics In this lesson we will discuss ergonomics. Ergonomics is the relationship between the worker and the job and focuses on the design of work areas or work tasks to improve job performance.
Risk Assesment In this lesson we are going to discuss a procedure you can use to assess and reduce the risk of a manual handling tasks.
Mechanical Equipment In this lesson we will discuss some of the mechanical equipment that can be used to assist in manual handling tasks. We will look at some of the limits of the equipment and investigate their pros and cons.
Health and Fitness In this lesson we are going to discuss the how your health and fitness can effect your manual handling ability. We will also look at some simple things that you can do that will improve your general health and fitness level.
Safe Handling Techniques In this lesson we discuss the basic principles of manual handling. We will also discuss some techniques that will ensure safe manual handling of loads.
Certification Quiz When you have completed all the lessons in the course, you can take this test to achieve certification for Manual Handling Theory.
